Donald Nolan (?-2019) was a widely respected tattoo artist known for his gentle approach and artistic execution, attracting clients from around the globe. His extensive career saw him operate tattoo shops across numerous cities, including San Jose, Long Beach, Eugene, Chicago, Honolulu, Bremerton, and Anchorage, before he opened ACME Tattoo in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1988. Nolan also worked at the legendary Bert Grimm’s on The Pike in Long Beach from the 1950s to the 1970s, solidifying his place in tattoo history. Beyond tattooing, he was a prolific oil painter, with many of his works adorning his studio space.
