Nate Macdonald

Nathan (Nate) MacDonald is a resident artist at Barnstormer Studio in Ottawa, Ontario. Originally from Prince Edward Island, Nate brings a distinctive background as a trained educator to his craft, having taught at Nunavut Arctic College before apprenticing under Glen Paradis. He specializes in large-scale Japanese and neo-Japanese work, creating striking pieces with confident linework, saturated color, and dynamic movement, frequently featuring motifs such as koi, hannya, dragons, and masks. Nate is equally adept at black-and-grey realism and custom illustrative designs. An active presence in the tattoo community, he regularly attends major conventions like the Toronto Tattoo Show and Winnipeg Tattoo Convention, and periodically travels to the East Coast for bookings. He offers a healthy selection of flash while embracing collaborative, client-led custom designs.
