Profile
Horisekai (彫世界), also known as Horishi (彫師), is a renowned artisan and craftsman specializing in traditional Irezumi at Sekaino Ink, a private studio he pioneered in Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. With a deep foundation in traditional Japanese tattooing, Horisekai’s expertise lies specifically in the art of Wabori (和彫り) and Horimono (彫物). His journey into Irezumi began in 2010, marked by a profound five-year commitment that included over 400 hours of receiving a full traditional Munewari Soushinbori (胸割り総身彫り) body suit in both Japan and South Korea. This personal rite of passage cemented his understanding and respect for the art form. While deeply rooted in tradition, Horisekai employs modern tattooing machines to execute his work, focusing on large-scale traditional Wabori designs. He is known for an understated, bold, and striking style that has garnered clients from across North America. Sekaino Ink operates by appointment only, reflecting Horisekai’s dedication to building meaningful, trust-based relationships and delivering the highest quality custom work.
