Emily Alder Woods

Emily Alder Woods is a tattoo artist based in Stratford, Ontario, working out of Brass Hands, a studio she co-founded. With a tattooing career that began in 2018, Emily initially offered handpoked tattoos and cosmetic freckles, evolving to exclusively machine tattooing by 2020. She is renowned for her ornamental, illustrative, and black and grey tattoo work, always striving to use a primarily vegan and eco-friendly setup.

Emily is deeply passionate about animals, art, and antiques, often finding joy in connecting with clients over shared interests like ghost stories or thrift finds. She believes tattoos can be both silly and fun, as well as profoundly healing and transformative, seeing her role as helping individuals feel more at home in their bodies. Emily offers custom designs, encourages open communication, and provides sliding scale appointments to enhance accessibility for her clients. When she’s not tattooing, she enjoys reading, collecting vintage photos, and spending time with her family.
