Deirdre Aikin

Deirdre Aikin is the Owner, proprietor, and driving creative force behind Triple Crown Tattoo & Piercing in Towson, Maryland. A prominent figure in the DMV tattooing community for 35 years, Deirdre has been professionally tattooing for over 27 years, both nationally and internationally. She began her career in the mid-80s, completing her apprenticeship at sixteen, and established her artistry in the underground tattoo scene of 1990s New York City. During this time, she was one of the few women in the industry and among the first to be officially licensed in the city.

Her impressive academic background complements her artistic skill, including a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design, with a concentration in Asian art history, and a Master of Fine Art in sculpture from the Rinehart School of Sculpture at Maryland Institute College of Art. Deirdre is celebrated for her exceptional color work and a keen emphasis on extreme fine-line and intricate detail. While proficient in many techniques, she has particularly excelled in mandalas, geometric designs, realism, and trash polka. She also holds a deep passion for South East Asian and Catholic stylings and iconography, alongside a lifelong admiration for Art Nouveau.

Deirdre’s tattooing philosophy is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to feel beautiful, strong, and powerful, viewing it as her duty to bring each client’s vision to life on their body in its most perfect incarnation.
