Alan Herman, professionally known as TAT-2-AL, is the owner and lead artist at Expressions By Alan Herman Inc. in Citrus County, Florida. Recognized as one of Florida’s oldest and award-winning artists, he embarked on his tattooing journey in 1978, cultivating over four decades of experience in the industry.

Herman specializes in a diverse range of styles, including fineline tattooing, cover-ups, Black and Grey, custom, Tribal, and Traditional designs. He is also skilled in creating medical tattoos and collaborates closely with clients to develop personalized, one-of-a-kind artwork that beautifully complements the body’s natural contours.

His commitment to excellence extends beyond artistry to client safety and satisfaction. Herman ensures a clean, sterile environment, utilizing single-service needles and autoclave-sterilized equipment. His dedication to professional standards is further evidenced by his certifications in BioHazard Waste, Healthcare Professional, BLS, First Aid, and HIV Awareness, along with his memberships in the National Tattoo Association and the Alliance of Professional Tattooists.

Before finding his true calling in tattooing, Herman explored various artistic and fabrication pursuits from a young age. His passion was ignited in 1978, mentored by influential figures like Lou Debiase. Beyond tattooing, Expressions Tattoo and Body Piercing also offers body piercing, boasting the largest selection of body jewelry in Citrus County, and features a unique gift shop with handcrafted metal and wood art by Herman himself.
