Mike Naylor

Mike Naylor, also known as Mikey, is a co-owner and artist at Monarch Tattoo Studio in Hauula on Oahu’s North Shore. With 14 years of professional tattooing experience, Mikey brings a diverse artistic background, including a BFA from Purchase College and an MA in Education, along with previous roles at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and teaching art in New York City. Having moved to Hawaii in 2003, he developed a deep appreciation for Polynesian culture and design through his work with the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Mikey is skilled in a variety of styles, from bold traditional American tattoos to flowing Polynesian patterns. He particularly enjoys drawing and tattooing sea creatures and expertly blends Polynesian designs with unique, freehand elements. Known for his easy-going demeanor and clear communication, Mikey respects his clients’ time while ensuring each tattoo is meticulously crafted. He thrives on collaborating on large, multi-session projects but also excels at smaller tattoos, always tailoring the design to the client’s precise vision.
