Jax Velazquez, also known as “Shrimp Dog,” is a queer Chicano tattooer at Tate Street Tattoo Co. LLC in Greensboro, NC. Starting their tattooing career in 2024 after an apprenticeship, Jax is a lifelong artist with a passion for diverse creative projects, often humorously describing themselves as a “Jax of all trades, master of some.” They enthusiastically embrace any tattoo project, with a particular affinity for traditional, blockprint, neotraditional, fine line, object realism, video game, and cartoon styles. Critters and creatures are among their favorite subjects. Jax is committed to creating a welcoming space for everyone, especially the LGBTQIA+ community, and in their free time, they enjoy their many hobbies, creating art, spending time with loved ones, and rescuing animals.
