Steph Sparrow

Steph Sparrow is the proud owner and operator of Roses and Rivets, a friendly, professional, and inclusive tattoo studio located in the heart of historic downtown Santa Paula, California. Since beginning her tattoo career in 2007, Steph has cultivated a distinctive artistry, specializing in fineline and single needle blackwork tattoos, often with a feminine bent. Her expertise also extends to intricate geometric tattoos, large-scale full body pieces, and adept coverup/rework tattoos. She is particularly known for her solid, precision black linework, a core element she believes maintains a tattoo’s integrity over decades, and has a special affinity for floral and botanical designs. Steph also embraces traditional “old school” Americana tattoos and, notably, is an enthusiastic artist for “cattoos,” welcoming clients who share her love for feline-inspired designs.

With a background that includes a Ph.D. in music composition, a past touring in heavy metal bands, and experience as a sound designer, Steph brings a unique perspective to her craft. She apprenticed under Steven Mast and opened her first studio in Massachusetts in 2015 before establishing Roses and Rivets in Santa Paula in 2017. Steph is dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and welcoming space, prioritizing exceptional customer service for clients of all ages and genders. Beyond her work in the studio, she is also a flight instructor and an avid ultrarunner, showcasing her diverse passions and disciplined approach to life and art. She works primarily by appointment, ensuring personalized attention for each client.
