Jeff Betts is the lead artist and founder of Iowa City Tattoo in Iowa City, IA. With over twenty years of experience, Jeff began his tattooing journey in the early 2000s, completing an old-school apprenticeship in Seattle, WA, before returning to serve his home community. He is passionate about bringing clients’ ideas to life, specializing in a diverse range of custom work. His artistic expertise spans from intricate Japanese traditional designs, exemplified by his full Japanese dragon back pieces, to classic American traditional, often referred to as ‘Old School’ tattooing. Jeff thrives on connecting with each client, creating personalized tattoos that truly reflect their individual personalities. While highly versatile, he notes that he does not offer photorealistic tattoos. Iowa City Tattoo is a family business, with Jeff’s wife, Chelsea, expertly managing the business operations.
