Richard Otten is the owner, a tattoo artist, and a piercer at The Tattoo Cellar in Sturgis, South Dakota. With an impressive career spanning 34 years in tattooing and 32 years in professional piercing, Richard brings extensive expertise to his craft. His studio, The Tattoo Cellar, has been a fixture for 26 Sturgis Rally seasons and has operated full-time for 17 years, establishing itself as a respected destination for original tattoos and body piercings.

Richard is an award-winning artist, recognized on local, state, national, and international levels for his exceptional work. His artistry has even caught the attention of television productions, with appearances on Nat Geo.’s “Diggers” Deadwood Episode, Travel Channel’s “Sturgis Raw” Wild Weekend, and Nat Geo.’s “Sturgis Hell on Wheels.” He specializes in a wide array of styles, including animals, black & grey, cover-ups, fairies, half sleeves, full sleeves, Northwest Tribal, back pieces, chest pieces, dragons, flowers, lower backs, small color, and various tribal tattoos.
