Bobby Weschler

Bobby Weschler is the esteemed Tattoo Artist and Owner of RAW Ink Studio, located within the vibrant beachKraft Gallery in Olney, MD. With a rich background in fine arts and graphic design, having been formally trained at the Maryland College of Art and Design (MCAD) and Montgomery College, Bobby brings a unique perspective to the world of tattooing. He spent twelve years honing his skills in the printing and graphic design industry before transitioning to tattooing in 2003, founding RAW Ink Studio around 2009.

Bobby specializes in both full-color and black & gray tattoos, celebrated for his realistic and detailed shading. While he is a versatile artist eager for any challenge, his passion shines brightest when creating intricate designs of underwater creatures and their habitats. A hallmark of his artistic process is the emphasis on custom work; approximately 90% of his tattoos begin as free-hand designs drawn directly onto the client’s body with markers. This method ensures that each tattoo flows seamlessly with the body’s natural contours, making it a truly one-of-a-kind piece. Bobby is dedicated to using unique references to craft bespoke art, a philosophy reflected in his approach: “My goal is to use unique references and create one-of-a-kind tattoos by taking the time to nail down the design a client wants, and then drawing the design on them to best fit the contours of their body.”

His vision for RAW Ink Studio’s current incarnation, nestled within the beachKraft Gallery, reflects his belief in tattooing as an embraced art form. The studio itself is an immersive art installation, designed as a metal airplane that has “crashed” through the wall, providing a sterile environment for tattooing while integrating seamlessly with the gallery’s art exhibits, classes, and live music performances. This innovative space underlines Bobby’s commitment to transforming the body into a visual timeline of memories and passions, elevating tattooing’s artistic and cultural recognition. Under his guidance, RAW Ink Studio has garnered numerous local awards for excellence in various competitive categories, celebrating the quality and artistry in every tattoo crafted.
