Dorothy “Dainty Dotty” Jensen

Dorothy “Dainty Dotty” Jensen (1909-1952), born Florence Sprague, holds a unique place in tattoo history as the largest female tattoo artist on record. Working alongside her husband, Owen Jensen, on The Pike in Long Beach, she was one of the few women to actively tattoo there during its golden age. Beyond her tattooing career, Dainty Dotty was also a famous circus lady, performing with Ringling Bros. Circus in the 1930s and 1940s. She also contributed to running a tattoo supply company with Owen.
