Profile
Eugene Charles Harry Barrs (1878-1961), widely respected by his peers, was considered one of the best tattooers of his era, despite few photographs or artifacts of his flash remaining. While his early career details are unclear, it is rumored he worked on The Pike in Long Beach. Barrs notably collaborated with Cap Coleman in Norfolk, Virginia, where Coleman sought to learn from his talent, and later invited Owen Jensen to work in his shop. His profound influence was such that Coleman’s tattooing style reportedly mirrored Barrs’ work after their time together, a testament to his exceptional skill and artistry.
