Profile
Guido Baldini is the owner and lead artist at Lost Cowboy Tattoo and Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His lifelong pursuit of art began in his native Italy, drawing inspiration from Stan Lee’s Spiderman classics and European fantasy art. His discovery of the raw power of tattoo art during his travels to London and Amsterdam in the late 1980s profoundly shaped his path. After initially studying law and working as a graphic designer, Guido opened his first tattoo shop, “Taos Tattoo,” in Italy in 1994, which later evolved into “Primal Mind Productions.” Relocating to the United States in 1999, he further refined his craft at esteemed New York City shops such as Sacred Tattoo and Bowery Tattoo. In 2004, he moved to New Mexico, ultimately establishing Lost Cowboy Tattoo and Gallery in Santa Fe in 2013, following several years working with local artists.
Guido is renowned for his black and grey work, incorporating color only when absolutely necessary to a design. He is particularly credited with introducing and defining the “dot work,” or “pointillism,” style of shading within American tattooing since 2012. As a dedicated artist and illustrator, he excels at custom work, meticulously translating clients’ unique visions and personal ideas into captivating tattoo designs. While appointments are preferred, he welcomes walk-ins based on availability.
