J Calaco is an artist at Tattoo City in Lockport, Illinois, who has been honing his drawing and coloring skills since early childhood. His artistic education includes numerous courses in drawing, color, design, and advanced drawing. Calaco draws significant influence from a diverse range of artists, including Yoshitaka Amano, H.R. Giger, Greg Capullo, Sid Myead, as well as various Chicano artists featured in Low Rider magazine. While continuously developing his craft independently, he recently found a mentorship under Larry Brogan at Tattoo City. Calaco specializes in a variety of styles, with a particular enjoyment for Japanese traditional, Black and grey, American traditional, Neo Traditional, and Chicano tattooing. Beyond tattooing, his interests extend to American comic books, Japanese Anime, and Science Fiction/fantasy films. He also ventures into painting with acrylics, watercolors, and markers. Calaco welcomes walk-in clients for custom tattoos.
