James Withee

James Withee is a distinguished artist at Dark Horse Tattoo Company in Gilbert, Arizona. His journey into art began in his early twenties, leading him from amateur exploration to a dedicated professional career in tattooing. Following a comprehensive apprenticeship, James further honed his craft through formal education, receiving classical training in fine art at a local community college. This foundational background allowed him to participate in notable fine art exhibitions, including a solo show in Phoenix, two exhibitions at the Phoenix Art Museum, and an MCC student show where he earned a juror’s award for his figurative works. Renowned for his award-winning tattoos, James frequently travels across the nation to share his artistic skills and vision, reflecting a versatile approach that encompasses everything from realistic portraiture to illustrative new school and traditional designs, in both black and grey and vibrant color.
