Joy Shannon

Joy Shannon is an artist at Paper Crane Studio in Long Beach, California, and the creator of Triple Goddess Tattoos. Her practice is named after the pagan symbol for the phases of the moon and a woman’s sacred life, which she frequently tattoos. With a background as a painter, printmaker, and musician, Joy brings a unique artistic perspective to her work.

She apprenticed with renowned tattoo and graffiti artist Mike Giant and has been deeply influenced by artists like Kai Uwe Faust, who specializes in ritualistic tattoos in the ancient Nordic style. Joy’s tattooing focuses on blackwork and esoteric themes, often mirroring the line contours of her printmaking and the mythological subject matter of her watercolor illustrations. Her specialties include intricate Celtic and Nordic knotwork, ritual tattoos, celestial designs, and goddess themes.

Joy is known for infusing deep creativity and genuine love into all her tattoos. Beyond traditional sessions, she offers ritual tattoos charged with intention, reiki healing energy work, and tarot readings, transforming each tattoo into a sacred symbol and helping clients connect with the universe.
