Kirk Peterson

Kirk Peterson is a co-founder and lead artist at BassAckward Studios, an award-winning custom art studio located in Hebron, North Dakota. With a career in art spanning over three decades, Kirk brings a wealth of experience to his diverse artistic practice. Having first apprenticed in tattooing in 1993, Kirk returned to the craft in 2004, honing his skills at Michael Jays in Bismarck, ND, where he contributed to the studio being recognized as the “Best Tattoo Shop in Bismarck/Mandan” for six consecutive years. His journey also included a significant collaboration with In the Flesh Tattoo in Dickinson before establishing BassAckward Studios in his home community of Hebron. Kirk’s artistic prowess extends beyond tattooing; he is an accomplished airbrush artist, having earned multiple awards for his custom work on vehicles, including motorcycles, and contributing to album covers for notable bands like BulletBoys. His illustration work, including magazine covers and books, further showcases his versatility. Kirk excels in creating custom artwork, with a particular strength in portraiture and logo design, and is renowned for his ability to paint, draw, and tattoo almost anything, ensuring each piece is a unique creation.
