Matt Thrash

Matt Thrash is the Owner and a dedicated Tattoo Artist at Thrash’s Tattoo in Rapid City, SD, a studio he co-founded with his wife, Cathy Thrash, in 2001. A lifetime resident of the Black Hills, Matt has been immersed in the serious pursuit of applying pigment graphically to the human body since 1997. While he has explored various artistic mediums, including paint, airbrush, jewelry, and tie-dye, tattooing remains his true passion. Matt is known for his commitment to creating the ‘perfect tattoo’ and cherishes the engaging sessions he shares with clients, feeding off their excitement for the art. His artistic inspiration is drawn from nature’s intricate colors and textures, such as the fine details in bark or the expansive beauty of landscapes, as well as the unique features of human faces, which lends itself well to portrait work. Matt continuously challenges himself with advanced tattoo techniques, striving to create a world full of colorful, textured surfaces. He also finds great satisfaction in collaborating with and developing up-and-coming artists within the diverse and vibrant environment of his studio.
