Matthew Amey

Matthew Amey is a co-owner of Independent Tattoo in Selbyville, DE, a studio he established with Tres Denk in 1997. An artist deeply rooted in Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Matthew has been tattooing since 1991 and boasts over 35 years of experience in various artistic disciplines. His expansive creative range extends beyond tattooing to include oil, acrylic, watercolor, glass, ceramics, and digital design, reflecting his continuous exploration of new mediums and techniques. Matthew further honed his craft by earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Delaware in 2008. While he dedicates Sundays and Mondays to Independent Tattoo, he also maintains his family studio, Wooden Octopus, in Berlin, Maryland, where many of his non-tattoo related works are showcased.
