Matthew Starks is a skilled tattoo artist at Gray Goat Tattoo in West Branch, IA. He began his artistic journey by graduating from Iowa State University in 2008, which led him to an apprenticeship under the late Ray “Stingray” Parrish. After honing his craft for five years, Matthew co-owned a successful tattoo business for seven years before joining Gray Goat to further his personal and artistic development. His foundational artistic loves include dark room comics, photography, and typography. Matthew draws significant inspiration from realist painters and photographers like John Peter Witkin, Monet, and Van Gogh, as well as influential designers such as David Carson. He is dedicated to creating art that not only enhances his clients’ outer beauty but also inspires their inner confidence.
