Ray Calico is a highly acclaimed tattoo artist with 16 years of experience, known for his versatile approach to tattooing. Based in Pooler, Georgia, he was honored as the “best tattoo artist of Pooler, Ga” in 2022 and “best tattoo artist of Effingham County, Ga” in 2023.
Originally from Los Angeles, California, Ray’s artistic journey began at a young age. Though primarily self-taught, he further honed his skills through an apprenticeship with a Savannah-based artist published in Urban Ink Magazine. His career started in Savannah, progressed to Richmond Hill, and then to Pooler, where he was one of the inaugural artists at High Rank Tattoo, the city’s first tattoo shop, opened in October 2020.
While Ray considers himself a well-rounded artist capable of executing various styles, he particularly enjoys black and grey work and is also highly skilled in color tattooing. He currently operates under Ray Calico Tattoos, offering consultations and appointments for a wide range of designs.
