Ray’s tattoo journey began with curiosity, leading him to fully dedicate himself to the craft in 2013. He had the rare opportunity to apprentice under the late Big Ed Gorby, an industry legend and recipient of the National Tattoo Association’s Bob Shaw Award. Additionally, Ray honed his skills alongside Tattoo Russ, both mentors playing a pivotal role in shaping his foundation and sharpening his craft. Through their guidance, Ray developed a style that blends the precision of West Coast fine-line black and grey work with his unique raw street-style influence. In 2016, he officially earned his apprenticeship, a milestone that boosted his confidence to forge his own path. This led to the creation of Lowcountry Ink Tattoos, where Ray is the founder and owner, continuing to push his artistry forward. His dedication has been recognized, with Lowcountry Ink Tattoos being named Best Tattoo Shop two years in a row. Serving the Lowcountry community, Ray specializes in both bold custom ink and intricate fine-line details, bringing visions to life with passion and precision.
