Profile
Rick Walters (1945-2019) was a world-renowned artist, machinist, and shop owner who left an indelible mark on the tattoo world, particularly at Bert Grimm’s World Famous Tattoo on The Pike. His journey began early, hand-poking tattoos on neighborhood kids at age 10, and he later taught himself the craft by observing artists at The Pike. Walters managed Bert Grimm’s from 1978 until 2003, a testament to his dedication and skill. His first tattoo was done by Zeke Owen when he was 14. Walters famously joked about dying in a tattoo chair—a premonition that tragically came true when he passed away at his tattoo station in March 2019.
