Rockwood is a co-owner and principal artist at Big Island Tattoo in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. With a rich history in the tattoo industry, he began his career tattooing in Los Angeles, California from 1983 to 1994, before moving to the Big Island to establish Big Island Tattoo with Becky in 1994. Known for his versatility, Rockwood works across all tattooing styles, specializing in Polynesian, watercolor, black and grey, and vibrant color work. He is also recognized as a master of cover-ups, adept at transforming old tattoos into fresh, new art pieces. Rockwood prides himself on taking clients’ ideas and meticulously crafting them into permanent, cherished works of art. Beyond tattooing, he also explores other art mediums, with his work featured in various galleries on the island, including within Big Island Tattoo itself.
